Mediterranean basin

MED FRIEND

MED FRIEND was launched in 1991 and gather nowadays 17 countries from around the Mediterranean sea. MEDFRIEND is one of the eight FRIEND programs of the UNESCO International Hydrological Program. Its goal is to enhance research collaboration between neighbouring countries in hydrology and related sciences, within several major research themes in the area.

  • October 2021 - Conference "Africa-France Montpellier Summit".

 

  • November 2021 - Seminar "Launch of the ECOBAM and ECOVAL projects".

 

  • December 2021 - Participation in the conference "Forum National des Acteurs de l'Adaptation au Changement Climatique".

 

  • May 2022 - Conference "Impact of dams on sediment transport to the sea in the Maghreb".

 

  • June 2022 - Participation in IAHS 2022.

 

  • October 2022 - First FRIEND-Water workshop on ecohydrology.

 

  • December 2021 - Launch of the GDRI project.
  • 2020-2024 - Ecosystem study of wetlands, impact of anthropic works and climate change.

 

  • 2021-2023 - Environmental diagnosis of a land-sea continuum: Medjerda watershed and coastal wetlands of the Gulf of Tunis.

 

  • 2022-2023 - Oued Medjerda (Tunisia) present and past: study of sedimentary, organic and chemical contaminant transfer from the catchment area to the coast.

 

  • 2021-2022 - Ecosystem services of the Char El Melah lagoon: Conservation and Valorisation: ECOVAL.

 

  • 2021 - Temporal ecosystem monitoring of the state of contamination of the coastal lagoon system: Case of Ghar El Melah: ECOMEL.

 

  • 2021 - Study of the dispersion of contaminants from the Medjerda catchment area to the marine ecosystem of the Gulf of Tunis.

 

  • 2021 - Impact of the anthropisation of the Medjerda basin on the socio-economic vulnerability of the coastal areas of the lower valley: case of the Ghar el Melah Lagoon. 
  • June 2022 - Palemoex SICMED: "The impact of the anthropogenic activities on the coastal degradation, drivers and consequences".

 

  • October 2022 - Implantation OMELI-Lagoon observatory.
